REAL CUSTOMER STORY · STYLE AFTER 65
At 70, Rosa Bennett Didn't Buy Just One Pair. She Bought Four.
"I wasn't looking for anything fancy. Just a lovely pair of trousers I could wear throughout the day without constantly thinking about how they fit."
I Was Tired of Feeling Uncomfortable in My Own Clothes
I was getting so frustrated with my trousers. Honestly, I was starting to wonder whether I'd ever find a pair that actually felt comfortable again.
At 70, my body isn't quite what it used to be, and that's perfectly fine with me. But why is it so difficult to find trousers that fit comfortably around the waist without looking completely shapeless?
I'd put on a nice pair of jeans, look in the mirror and think they looked lovely. Then I'd sit down for lunch, and within twenty minutes, I'd be wishing I could change into something else.
The waistband would dig into my tummy, the fabric would feel too tight around my legs, and I'd spend half the afternoon adjusting my clothes.
Surely I wasn't the only woman dealing with this?
And with another Australian summer approaching, I knew I didn't want to spend every warm afternoon in heavy jeans. But shorts weren't really what I was looking for either.
I still wanted to look nicely dressed. I still wanted to wear beautiful colours and feel confident when I went out with my sister or met friends for coffee.
I just wanted to be comfortable. Was that really so much to ask?
That's when I came across the Carolina Relaxed Linen Trousers.
The loose shape caught my attention first, followed by the elasticated waist and those lovely colours.
But I still had one question.
Would they actually be as comfortable as they looked?
"I don't need my trousers to make me look twenty years younger. I just want to feel comfortable and like myself."

THE FIRST TIME I PUT THEM ONI wasn't sure about the wide legs at first
I'll admit, when I first looked at the Carolina trousers, I wondered whether the legs might be a little too wide for me.
I've spent so many years wearing fairly straight trousers that anything different takes a bit of getting used to.
But I liked the way the fabric fell from the waist.
The elasticated waistband was a welcome detail, too. I much prefer something with a little give around my middle these days.
I put them on with a plain white top and my usual sandals.
Nothing special.
I stood in front of the mirror, turned to the side and had another look.
And I thought, actually, these look rather nice.
They weren't trying to be fitted or structured.
They simply had a relaxed shape that suited the kind of outfit I wanted to wear.
A NORMAL AFTERNOONThe real test was sitting down
Later that morning, I made myself a cup of tea and sat down in my favourite chair.
It sounds like such a small thing, doesn't it?
But I've owned plenty of trousers that feel perfectly fine when I'm standing in front of the mirror, only to become uncomfortable the moment I sit down.
That's usually when I start noticing the waistband or pulling at the fabric around my knees.
With Carolina's looser shape, I could sit without the legs feeling so fitted around me.
I got up, walked around the house and went about my morning.
And that was really what I had been looking for.
Not something that needed constant adjusting.
Just trousers that felt easy to wear.
That afternoon, I wore the same outfit out for coffee.
A white top, comfortable sandals and my little handbag.
I didn't spend ages deciding what to put on, which made a pleasant change.
And I certainly didn't feel overdressed.
ROSA'S FINAL THOUGHTSIt's the little comforts that matter most
I think you reach a certain age when you become much more honest with yourself about what you enjoy wearing.
I don't want to squeeze into trousers just because they're fashionable.
I don't want to spend an afternoon pulling at my clothes.
And I certainly don't want to stop wearing lovely things simply because my body has changed over the years.
I still enjoy a beautiful outfit.
I just appreciate it even more when it's comfortable.
What I like about Carolina is the simplicity of the design. A comfortable waist, a relaxed shape and colours that fit easily into an everyday wardrobe.
Of course, everyone's shape is different, and I'd always suggest checking the measurements and trouser length before choosing a size.
But for me, the most important thing is finding something that feels right for an ordinary day.
Not just for a photograph.
Not just for a special occasion.
For sitting with a cup of tea, heading out for lunch or spending a quiet afternoon at home.
Because I think those are the moments when we really appreciate comfortable clothes.
